All Hope Is Not Lost.

More often than not people say it’s the hope that kills you, wrong thought that one, times are hard yes, with a global pandemic, with lockdowns, limited/zero movement, curfews and everything bad & awful that you can think of. All these happened in the past year and it continues, with this in mind it would be right to say people alluding to that all is hope gone might be correct.

However it is the hope for better days that keeps us moving forward and believing things will get better with everything we engage our lives in no matter how simple or small because in the long run it should bring positive results and as Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”

What happened happened, there is very little we can do about that but work around preventing the similar thing from happening to us again, worst if we are ill prepared moreso mentally.

We wish we won’t regret the past or wish to shut the door on it as such we should however learn from it, for every step in the right direction there has been a moment of despair and frustration, but what we call our despair is often only the painful eagerness of unfed hope and the more you think about it the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit and when everything eventually changes be present to experience and feel the change for the pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work and the end of labor is to gain leisure, so keep moving, keep pushing and keep believing.

Re-Adjust and Change

Change is probably the hardest thing we all have to do as long as we are living, undoubtedly it comes with its fair share of “problems” but as to life and staying afloat we all have to keep our best foot forward as we yearn for greatness.

Living sometimes feels so hopeless and worthless, but reasons that keep us moving is the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of why and what you want to achieve in life albeit all the difficulties.

Those early morning and late nights are not for nothing in the long run as we live or better yet survive, each new day there’s a chance to make a difference no matter  how small it may seem.

As cliche as it may sound,  the steady “baby steps” that we take everyday are a good sign and as much as the grass is always greener on the other end we must hang in there with hope and trust that eventually it’ll all fall in place.

At the end of it all only those that endure the pressures and the complications survive, needless to say the toughness, desire and agility to want more and to want to continue pushing for the seemingly impossible.

After it’s all said and done,

We must accept change because that is the natural order, and as in The Alchemist, “when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

According to Paulo Coelho the author of the book, “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”

As if  that wasn’t the end Paulo Coelho stressed  that, “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

Fear comes with being human prolly for self preservation be it as it may, it should have no room in us because with every sunrise it’s God’s way of saying let’s start again.

“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”

Hope still lies within, that one day things will look up, change, and change for the better, probably for an education, some look forward to a well cooked meal, others look forward to a comfortable warm bed to lay on when it’s cold.

That is the only thing keeping us going, don’t give up yet you’ve been through so much to contemplate giving in to the pressure and allowing yourself to be a quitter.

Hope is the last thing that dies in man.

Keep Going — Laetie’s Blog

Hello Loves, it’s been a minute, ey! 😊 I just dropped by to remind us something. Someone once said, ” Keep Going No matter how bad things are right now,. No matter how stuck you feel,. No matter how many days you’ve spent crying,. No matter how many days you’ve spent wishing things were different,. […]

Keep Going — Laetie’s Blog

Hope..!!

Every passing day we live with the idea that everything we face will be different or even better and that it might change maybe not as fast as we would expect but in the long run it all does.

Fear and hope cannot occupy the same space, invite one and stay believing that things will change, A line that keeps us going each day that we are living, don’t know if it’s a superstition or just the work of a higher power but when everything seems so uncertain we manage through, somehow.

Just as the sun rises from the East and sets in the West its rising gives us new hope and a new opportunity. Eventually we all learn, more often than not it is from the mistakes and the failures of life that we learn more from.

The early mornings, the late nights will surely pay off, because someone somewhere is always watching, but if we choose to cry because the sun is gone we’ll miss the joy and the beauty of the stars.

As long we live, we’ll always face battles, whether we win or we lose, they have to be fought, hurdles will be there, but we won’t stop but we will figure out how to go through such like hurdles or work around them.

At the end of the day we should strive to live a “Get to” kind of life instead of aHave tokind of life, because the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little extra.

Through Nairobi 2

After making a turn into Haile Sellasie Avenue and into Ngong road we meet a police roadblock which was rather unusual in that time of the night, “Dereva weka gari kando”one of the officers ordered, “umebeba nani hapa nyuma” coming towards the back left seat where I sat.

His flashlight shown directly into my eyes, as he continued to ask some common and disturbing questions “nisubiri hapo” he instructed as went away to join his colleagues in chatter, after more than 10 minutes of waiting the driver got restless, got out of the car and went to talk to the rather unconcerned officers to allow us to go.

Immediately he got in the car I asked, “what have you given them to let us go, “si ni lazima utoe chai” answered the visibly disturbed driver who, according to his Uber profile had made more than 3500 trips in 2years with very many five-star ratings a big achievement on Kenyan roads.

He seemed bitter about something which I couldn’t ascertain, at this time the music volume was at its lowest, as silence rented the air at this point all I wanted was reaching my destination and be done with my day or better yet my night.

Hawa polisi wanadhani pesa tunaokota, lamented the driver seemingly very upset, hii Kenya ni corruption tu left, right and center waheshimiwa wanjiongeza mishahara kila siku, I had to chip in though cautiously, “ata mimi nimeskia ivo”.

‘Make a left turn’ I reminded the driver just to distract him from his kind of talk, sasa kama kazi watu wanapewa na kujuana si na qualifications, how then will we survive, he probed of which I blatantly ignored as I ascertained his bitterness with how things are being run in the country noting the unending misgivings from the government to its people.

You’re right, I thought in my mind quickly flashing to some nations who had the same problems as ours of politicians enriching themselves instead of the citizenry, The Arab spring that swept through Libya, Tunisia & Egypt and it got me thinking that we’re probably headed the same direction.

Finally, I arrive at my destination Time 3am and after making my payments and saying our goodbyes, my driver left, I started my walk to the house which seemed rather distant than usual, many thoughts crossed my mind, I just wished I had the capability to change the status quo in my Motherland.

Through Nairobi 1

“The Journey Begins”

“Hello, where exactly are you? I’m your uber driver I’ve received your request” After some maneuvers the driver was able to locate me, he said, “Get in the car with a rather broad smile signalling me to buckle up reminding me how the roads usually are especially at that hour of night, minutes past midnight,

We drove though University Way into Uhuru Highway, a well-lawned road thanks to Sonko’s philanthropy and as expected the roads are clear and the driver put his music on which hit smoothly and differently maybe because it was in the quiet of the night.

Out the window I could see boda bodas making rounds looking for clients to take home, street urchins hovering like scavengers if only to get something for the night, beba beba guys pulling their carts moving luggage.

On the other side of the highway is a sharp contrast, here the streets are buzzing with outdoor partying extending onto the roads, I could see people on their phones supposedly calling their friends to come join in the jollification.

The elderly were sipping their coffees in balcony extensions that gave a clear view of the underlying city, surrounded by Tv screens, indeed these are the the working class of the city and with the title comes the need to to keep up to date with current affairs as such this is a clear example of opulence.

Indeed this is the city that never sleeps.

Cultures Africa Must End(Part 1)

Wiser words were never spoken and lest we retrace our steps we are bound to walk on a steep slippery slope, one which we won’t survive,
Great read.

Liz's blog

Culture emanated from the existence of humanity. It
is a contest which begun early BC and Africa is the connection point of these
norms we are going to sail through.

Unemployment is a major problem in entire Africa. Her youths are highly affected and it is a pressing need which has to be dealt with as it upsets our economy as a continent. This is because the economic growth of a country is measured by how much each citizen produces and in this case who should create the jobs. From time memorial we have been brought up in a culture which is full of transform-blame. Having thoughts that it is someone else’s responsibility to create an opportunity then we show up for huge incomes as per our high level of education.

Education first seemed to be a proper way of solving unemployment. This called out for investment in this sector…

You Never Really Know!!

We always think that we know someone’s true colors, but in actual sense we never and can never quite know some one until we have met and socialized with them, only then do we get to know them for whom they really are.

At the end of the day we can only learn/know so much about someone by the degree of how much they want us to see and know, guess it’s human nature to want to mask somethings from people, often than not we hide this for the mere reason of avoiding judgement and condemnation from the society, both from friends and foes.

But as is to man to err many of us tend to have self preservation which with no doubt is the best trait to have so is self worth regardless of what other people think or perceive you to be.

To live a self fulfilling life is if one looked for the best in others and gave the best he had towards them and helped in a way or the other to make them better people.

Success is for those  who have lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of others for accomplished tasks which inevitably are meant to leave the world better than they found it.

Destiny determines who enters your life but you decide who stays, maybe the cliche of all time but all true because what we know is a drop and what we don’t is an ocean hence more often than not pain teaches who we really are.

THE SHARKS OF KARIOBANGI

SLUM ADVOCATE CO.

The Sportpesa cup that took place over the weekend between local sensation Kariobangi Sharks F.C and EPL side Everton should be a wakeup call to all football stakeholders.

The winning side Kariobangi Sharks proved that Kenya has quality talent that needs to be utilized in future national team. The stunning performance by the young men who, compared to their opponent could not match their physical quality but still outdid them.

The sharks entertained the mammoth crowd with their penalty shootouts celebration as every player pulled stunts after scoring leaving even the English side, Everton F.C  in stitches.

The Sportpesa cup put the Sharks  on the spotlight. A team with a humble beginnings  from the Eastlands area of Kariobangi, an area stereotyped with crime.
